Please choose love.

1 Corinthians 16:14 “Let all that you do be done in love.”

Are you not amaze of how love works? On how love makes everything wonderful? On how love covers every weakness, scars, pains, mistakes and failures? On how love always sees the beauty in everything?

1 Corinthians 13:13 And these three remain; faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.

This is for you, my dear.

No matter how beautiful love is, no matter how amazing it is, there will come a time when choosing love will become so hard. I know you are struggling right now. You are looking down on yourself. Thinking that, you always choose love but it seems that love is not choosing you. When will love finds its way back to you? Are you getting tired? Are you losing hope? Are you giving up?

Time will come when all you can see is pain. When all you can feel is hurt. When all you can do is to cry. When smiling becomes only a mask you need to wear to make yourself look fine. But you know what hurts the most? It is when you want to pull yourself up once again and yet you can’t. They say that you will only realize how lonely you are when you have no one to tell how lonely you are. It is heart breaking.

Have you been there? Have you tried hugging yourself? Have you cried yourself to sleep? Have you stared blankly at yourself in the mirror? Have you tried begging your tears to stop streaming down your face? Have you felt so tired? Not physically but emotionally? Have you felt that pain that literally crushes your heart that it becomes so hard to breathe?

At times, we will be in our weakest. But I say to you, please choose love, my dear. Choose to fight. Choose to rise up. Choose to believe in the power of love. Yes, it is hard. Yes, it is painful. But it is the true meaning of obedience. You really can’t pull yourself up by your own might. You really have no one to talk to if you choose to isolate yourself. You really can’t smile genuinely when it is just a mask. It is God. It is God who can pull you up back to your feet again. It is God who always wants to listen to your stories. It is Him who can give you pure joy so that it will show in your face, through your smile.

Please, dear, choose love above all else, at any time, in any circumstances. Choose to look at the author of love. ‘Cause true love can only be found in God. He first loved us. He is the maker and giver of unconditional love.

When you run out of reasons to choose love once again, look above. It will remind you what happened on the cross because of LOVE.
